Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier
The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier has the flexibility and uncompromised performance you need to power your audiophile home theatre system. This THX Ultra2-certified colossus delivers a whopping 150 high-current watts per channel for stunning sonic depth and detail. Pair it with the Denon POA-A1HD AV Power Amplifier to create an unbeatable surround sound or multi-room system.
A fitting companion to the Denon AVPA1HD AV Surround Controller, the Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier sets the standard for power and precision, with unparalleled configuration options. Each of the unit's ten amplifier channels feature a discrete power amplifier assembly to eliminate interference between channels, and each is equipped with a dedicated DC power supply that ensures optimum fidelity without interference from other channels. High current DC rectifiers and companion high current filter/storage capacitors ensure stable performance with low impedance (4 ohms) speaker loads, even in bridged mode. Each amplifier channel also features A/B speaker outputs that allows tremendous flexibility with sophisticated multi-zone installations in addition to bi-amping capability, along with Denon's exclusive Control Link connectivity for seamless configuration and switching via the A/V controller the Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier, sold separately.
150 Watt Mono Block Construction Amplifiers: The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier utilizes fully separated construction for each ten channels for all the same high audio quality. The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier's discrete mono block design enables the best possible amplifier performance. The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier features a new amplifier circuit design which shortens audio signal paths for the best audio quality. The power amplifier's rugged chassis features direct mechanical grounding that eliminates microphonically-induced distortions, along with extensive shielding to prevent mutual interference between individual amplifier channels and low and high power circuits.
High Current and Separated Power Supply: The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier is equipped with eight individual transformers to supply power to each discrete circuit. In addition, the amplifier uses 4 main power transformers to drive the 10ch power amplifiers with separated coil winding for pure audio playback. The amplifier also features high current diodes and capacitors to drive bridged speakers.
Custom Integration: The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier carries the "CI" stamp, which is Denon's certification to custom installers that the preamplifier has advanced connectivity and control features often required for custom home integration and theatre applications using premium control systems. These features include RS232C jacks for use with whole house control systems, remote in/out IR command control, and assignable +12-volt triggers.
THX Ultra2 Certification: This unit has been built and tested to conform to the high standards of sound and build quality set by the THX Ultra2 Certification program. THX is the unique collaboration between Lucas film Ltd. and audio equipment manufacturers. THX Ultra2 certification provides a rigorous set of performance standards, along with proprietary surround sound post-processing technologies, designed to enhance the surround sound playback experience in the home theatre. When the THX Ultra2 mode is on, the following THX post-processing is added when the amplifier is paired with the Denon AVP-A1HD AV Surround Controller:
The Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier features a monoblock design with discrete power amplifier construction for each of its 10 channels to eliminate any possible between-channel interference. Four massive main power transformers plus eight individual transformers supply current to each channel for punchy, dynamic sound. This amp's specially designed circuitry uses shortened audio signal paths to maintain sonic purity, and a Direct Mechanical Ground to minimize performance-robbing chassis vibrations. Cool, retro-looking front-panel meters provide important power output information for all channels, or any individual channel.
Denon POA-A1HD Amplifier Specification:
-
Audio Inputs: The Denon POA A1HD features a single gold-plated RCA-type and single XLR-type connection for each of the amplifier's 10 channels.
-
Speaker Outputs: The multi-channel amplifier features two pair of gold-plated binding posts (A+B) for each of the amplifier's 10 channels. They are not 5-way binding posts because a plastic collar prevents their use with spade lugs and they are positioned too far apart to be used with dual banana plugs.
-
Control Link: The Denon amplifier features a proprietary Control input and output terminal (the amplifier comes supplied with one control cable). The Control input terminal allows you to connect this unit to and control this unit from the Denon AVP-A1HD preamplifier. The Control output terminal allows you to daisy chain two amplifiers together to one Denon AVP-A1HDC preamplifier (a maximum of two POA-A1HDCI amplifiers can be connected to on Denon AVP-A1HDC preamplifier).
-
Trigger In: The Denon POA-A1HD has a single 3.5mm mini-jack input to receive a 12-Volt DC "turn-on" from a connected unit with a 12-Volt DC output. When the equipment connected by this terminal is powered on/off, the power of this amplifier is changed from on/standby.
RS322C Port: The Denon POA-A1HDCI includes a single RS-232C port for connection to external whole-house control systems, from companies such as AMX, Crestron, and others, and provides a software/firmware upgrade pathway.
