With a digital connection (cable included), you can play both audio and video in high quality from your Apple device. You can also connect USB storage devices and play MP3, WMA and AAC compressed audio files.
With the Pioneer VSX-821 you can turn your living room into a cinema with 5.1 HD surround sound. With speakers in the front, rear and middle and a subwoofer connected, you’ll immerse yourself in a lively film experience. Besides Dolby Pro Logic IIz, the receiver supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio so you can enjoy uncompressed, high-definition audio from Blu-ray discs as well. Surround speakers can hardly be ideally positioned. MCACC therefore analyses the existing sound field using a microphone (included), just like a sound professional, and adjusts the sound timings to precision-tune the system to your room.
The Pioneer VSX-821 includes Bluetooth audio streaming so if your phone, laptop or tablet is Bluetooth equipped, you can live stream audio to the receiver (with an optional adapter). The internal Sound Retriever AIR circuitry restores sound quality after transmission.
The Pioneer VSX-821 includes 6 high definition inputs including 4 x HDMI. With HDMI version 1.4a, you can use this receiver to watch 3D video from a Blu-ray disc. Other convenient features include an Audio Return Channel for TVs with DVD player or Tuner built-in, for example, and Standby pass-through.
