On the new Siltech Royal Signature Empress Crown interconnect the conductors are made from unique one-crystal flat ultra purity silver ribbons. From one side of the cable to the other, there is no crystal boundary which means audio distortion is essentially zero.
The human ear is able to distinguish barely detectable sounds with amazing accuracy. Our ability to correctly analyze small signals is a relic of the human survival mechanism and therefore the main reason why we hear all those details and subtle nuances in high-end audio systems. Any inconsistency is analyzed by our brain with great precision. This is why lesser cables than the Siltech Royal Signature Empress Crown interconnect can cause fatigue while listening. Your brain is kept busy correcting errors. In music reproduction the correct transfer of very small signals is essential for the proper recognition of voices, instruments and acoustic clues. Most systems are able to correctly reproduce louder signals without noticeable distortion, but fail to accurately amplify small signals.
Silver, gold and copper share many similar properties. Sound-wise, in contrast with popular belief there is not a huge sound difference between the metals themselves. These differences come mainly from the production, purity and the kind of impurities left in the metal conductors. G7 grade used in the Siltech Royal Signature Empress Crown interconnect is our best silver-gold metallurgy. Its purity is very high, distortion is virtually absent.
Peek is an excellent insulator and it is mechanically very strong (you can’t deform it by hitting it with a hammer). Peek also has a very high melting point (600 degrees Celsius). So Peek is not only a material for optimal sonic results but it’s also a very safe material. Therefore Peek is also used in our proprietary SST connectors as used for the Siltech Royal Empress Crown interconnect.
We also use Kapton in the Siltech Royal Signature Empress Crown interconnect. Kapton is a more stable insulator than most other insulation materials (including Teflon) and it has excellent electrical and mechanical properties. Kapton has a very high melting point (400°Celsius) and is extremely durable. As a result, the double insulation layer can be very thin allowing twisting the conductors in a near perfect symmetry and angle, which results in very low inductance and excellent EMI and RFI rejection.
