Fanthorpes HiFi - The Week Ahead 8th May - 12th May

Hi everyone, it’s that time of the week again, when we take a look at what we’re up to. A slightly shorter edition this week due to the May bank holiday, but a busy week ahead none the less, with installs as far south as Portsmouth and as far north as Scotland!

The idea is to give you an insight into our working week here at Fanthorpes HiFi. With what demonstrations we are doing in store and in customers’ homes, services we offer, as well as give you an insight into the distances we travel over a working week.

Tuesday 8^th May

After being closed on Monday due to the bank holiday we get things underway with a trip down to Portsmouth to install a pair of Cyrus Mono Power Amplifiers into a customer’s Cyrus System. Before we reach our final destination in Portsmouth though we’ve got another two installs along the way.

First up we have an install of a PMC cor amplifier in Pinner, this customer already owns a pair of PMC Twenty 26 speakers that will sound great with the cor amp. Once that install is all done and dusted are heading down to High Wycombe to install a pair of Neat Motive SX3 standmounts and to pick up a pair of Spednor SA1 Speakers we are taking in part exchange.

Wednesday 9^th May

With our installer on the road making the trip back up north, we’ve got an Arcam integrated amplifier demonstration to set up in store. This customer is looking to pit the Arcam A39 against its bigger brother the A49 Integrated.

Thursday 10^th May

We hit the road again, this time across the boarder to Scotland, East Lothian to be more specific, to set up an Arcam AVR850. This receiver requires a full DIRAC set up, which is a service we are happy to offer. The overall aim on a Dirac install is to reach the situation where all speakers are working together to create a `sound field` around you, correctly recreating the movies sound effects while not making themselves noticeable.

Our fully trained installer can use DIRAC to allow this using a high quality specially calibrated microphone and the intelligent room analysis software linked to the new range of Arcam receivers. Full frequency sounds are passed into each speaker one at a time, in up to 9 positions in your room which are then picked up by the microphone and loaded into the software.

This creates accurate waveform graphs of your own rooms actual effect on your systems sound output. By using the DIRAC software, we can adjust these waveforms to more closely match the original movies own soundtrack.

The overall effect of this provides a clean, detailed sound where no one speaker is directly noticeable, and your attention is focused only on the movie. We are also picking up a Moon I3.3 Amplifier with DAC board which the customer is part exchanging against the AVR850.

Friday 11^th May

It’s the Munich high end HiFi show at the weekend, so Dale and Marc will be jetting off to check out all the latest high end HiFi, we’re expecting some big news from PMC Speakers, and Chord Electronics always have something to show. Keep and eye on our Instagram for the latest images from the show.

Saturday 12^th May

To finish the week, we have an in store demo. This customer is looking to upgrade their DAC. Two award winning Chord Electronics DACs are in the running, we’ll be pitting the new Qutest DAC against the Chord Hugo TT.
