Spendor D7 Speakers

The Spendor D7 Speakers are on permanent demonstration in our Hull store.

Since arriving with us the Spendor D7 speakers have proved to be firm favourites with our staff and customers too. The speakers have a very sweet treble, are very detailed and provide an extremely musical listen.

Released in 2013 the Spendor D7 speakers are the culmination of years of research, development and refinement from Spendor Audio. The Spendor D7 speakers are the first model to introduce the LPZ tweeter and fifth generation linear flow technology to the Spendor line up.

The tweeter looks very impressive with a stainless steel front plate forms an acoustic chamber directly in front of the lightweight diaphragm. The tweeter's grill acts as a phase correcting microfoil that equalises sound wave path lengths. At the same time it generates a symmetrical pressure environment so the tweeter operates in a balanced linear mode.

The midrange is created from Spendor’s very own polymer, EP77, first used in the A6R Speakers. The bass driver is a 120mm Kevlar composite cone.

Spendor believe that port turbulence is a source of midrange distortion, to combat this they created their own Linear Port design, taking inspiration from F1 diffusers the linear flow port is designed with twin-venturi to minimise this with a low Q acoustic output and very low phase shift.

The Spendor D7 Speaker cabinets are made from MDF, the cabinets use constrained layer damping at specific points to enhance rigidity and to damped vibration levels. The speaker then sits on a super thick MDF plinth with machined steel anchor points for the spike, this again further enhances the D7’s vibration dampening ability, allowing the speaker to deliver the realism and clarity you come to expect from Spendor Speakers.

Spendor Speakers At Fanthorpes

Spendor speakers are designed and hand built at the Spendor factory in Hailsham, Sussex in the UK. Traditional craftmanship, skilled design capability and modern engineering materials all combine to produce superbly built loudspeakers with models to suit any taste or application.

Spendors unique bass and mid drive units are also designed and built in Hailsham. Many other manufacturers are content to buy in standard, or slightly modified versions of drive units easily obtainable from component suppliers, whilst claiming the drive units as their own. Not so with Spendor Audio. The main drivers are the heart of the loudspeaker, and should be designed and built with care, and without compromise.
