CDs are still an important part of the audio landscape, and Audiolab's comprehensive range of CD transports reflect that fact. The new 7000CDT bridges the gap between the 6000 and 9000 Series, providing a great-value CD transport that's sure to please those who still treasure their CD collections.

The Audiolab 7000CDT's front reveals two clear upgrades. Firstly, the stadium-shaped display is larger than the 6000CDT's monochrome text display, boasting a colour GUI found across the 7000 Series. Secondly, the 6000A's slot-loading is replaced by a top-notch tray-loading in a shielded enclosure, with a precise optical system and low-friction tray.

Improvements have been made to the internal components of the Audiolab 7000CDT, such as the power supply and output circuitry, employing a robust toroidal transformer. The craftsmanship is immaculate, with strategically placed components to reduce external and motor vibrations and to guard against electromagnetic interference.

The Audiolab 7000CDT boasts a temperature-compensated crystal oscillator which governs its master clock, resulting in miniscule amounts of jitter on the digital output from its optical and coaxial sockets. It also features a differential line driver that ensures a pristine digital signal is delivered to its accompanying DAC. This state-of-the-art DAC section offers an outstanding sonic performance, although the 7000CDT can also be paired with an alternative DAC of the user's choice.

Enhanced power supply and output circuitry, including a high-quality toroidal transformer, have been incorporated into the Audiolab 7000CDT, whilst its construction and circuit layout have been designed to minimize vibrations, guard against electrical noise, and protect sensitive components. A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator is employed to regulate the master clock, drastically reducing jitter and improving digital output quality. The coaxial output is fed from a differential line driver for a superior digital signal. The 7000CDT is a great match for its accompanying DAC, but can be connected to any other high-quality DAC. As well as playing CDs, it has a USB Type A input for playback from USB storage devices, supporting FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 formats, and WAV, WMA, AAC, and MP3 files. Its aluminium casework and 2.8in display (showing track info and graphics) are similar to the 7000A integrated amp and 7000N streamer, and it offers features such as repeat, random, and program play.
