Spurred on by the resurgence of vinyl, AVID turntables have become a popular brand in our store. Providing affordability and possessing the technology derived from the flagship Acutus turntable, the AVID DIVA II SP should be considered if you are looking at a deck around the £3000 price point.

As with all AVID turntables the DIVA II SP Turntable is belt driven, and as its name suggests the AVID Diva II SP is an evolution of the original DIVA II. Obvious differences between the models are that the AVID DIVA II SP sports a 6kg aluminium platter, rather than the standard MDF on the original DIVA. This sits on a high quality Tungsten carbide/sapphire bearing assembly taken from the more expensive AVID decks. These vibration absorbing properties, alongside the decks chassis work together to almost eradicate vibration levels. What makes a considerable difference between the DIVA II SP Turntable and the entry level AVID decks is its frequency-adjustable power supply, offering variable speed through to the synchronous AC motor, that in turn drives the metal platter through twin belts.

To look at, the power supply is a small metal box, with a power knob on the left and two buttons to the right. In reference to the buttons one starts and stops the platter and the other changes the speed. Pressing and holding both buttons allows you to edit the motor speed, with one button speeding the deck up in fine increments and the other slowing it down. To save the speed simply press and hold both buttons once more.

As you would expect from AVID, the DIVA II SP Turntable is an incredibly well built piece of engineering. A robust and solid design that punches well above its weight.
