PS Audio has expanded its renowned Stellar Series lineup with the introduction of the StellarGold preamplifier and StellarGold DAC. These high-end audio components showcase the latest technological innovations from PS Audio, offering exceptional sound quality, versatile configuration options, and user-friendly remote-control operation.
According to Paul McGowan, PS Audio CEO, "Our Stellar Series components have consistently delivered outstanding performance at price points that provide genuine value. The new StellarGold preamplifier and DAC elevate this design philosophy to unprecedented heights."
Maintaining the sleek design characteristic of the Stellar Series, the StellarGold preamplifier (£3999) and DAC feature a distinctive real-gold-plated accent line on the front panel. Available in silver or black, the StellarGold preamplifier serves as a flexible audio system control center, boasting multiple balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs. Accessible via the preamp’s front panel menu system and included remote control, the preamp, designed by renowned engineer Darren Myers, is fully balanced from input to output, utilizing pure Class A analog amplification.
The preamp incorporates high-slew-rate, high-bandwidth JFET and BJT devices, along with hand-selected internal components. Its two discrete audio amplification stages employ a minimal global feedback design, with a high-current Class A output stage capable of driving long cable lengths effortlessly. The power supply design includes an oversized transformer, multiple stage regulation, and other refinements.
The StellarGold preamplifier combines extraordinary resolution, tonal accuracy, spatiality, and dynamic impact with flexible operation. Precision stepped attenuation controls volume and balance, while providing management of input selection, input naming, IR control, and other functions.
Priced at £3999, the PS Audio StellarGold DAC incorporates multiple technological advancements for remarkable fidelity and musical realism from digital sources. Parallel construction of four high-resolution digital-to-analog converters per channel feeds into a newly-designed discrete Class A analog output stage. This approach reduces noise and channel crosstalk, enhancing linearity, dynamic range, and resolution beyond single-DAC technology.
The StellarGold DAC features multiple I2S and coaxial digital inputs, USB and optical inputs, and balanced and single-ended outputs. With built-in lossless volume control, it can function as a standalone preamplifier. Supporting PCM up to 768 kHz and DSD up to 256 (11.2 MHz), the DAC provides user-selectable digital filters for customized sonic preferences.
The StellarGold DAC is on demonstration now in our Hull showroom, with the Stellar Gold Pre Amplifier expected to land soon.

Ortofon’s MC X Series represents a new wave in high-fidelity vinyl playback. Building on the solid foundation of the Quintet range, this series introduces a more refined, high-performance line of moving coil (MC) cartridges—all designed and assembled in Denmark.
While the models share core design elements—such as a honeycomb stainless-steel body, silver-plated pure copper coils, and a refined magnet system—the key differences lie in stylus shape, cantilever material, and sonic character. These factors have a profound effect on how the cartridge interacts with the grooves and conveys the music.
Let’s break down the differences between the MC X10, X20, X30, and X40 to help you choose the model that suits your setup and listening preferences.
