Neat Acoustics' Momentum Jet Speakers Promise to Elevate Your Hi-Fi Experience

The Momentum Jet series from British hi-fi brand Neat Acoustics includes two models: a standmounter and a floorstander. This new range builds on the company's flagship Ultimatum series, aiming to deliver high-end engineering and components at a more accessible price point.

The Momentum Jet speakers feature MDF cabinets, a departure from the Finnish birch ply used in the flagship line. A key innovation is the new "JET" AMT tweeter, which replaces the traditional soft dome super-tweeter. Both models also incorporate Neat's proprietary isobaric bass loading technique, promising "exceptionally extended and well-defined low frequencies."

Momentum J-S Standmount Speakers

The Momentum J-S standmount is a compact, streamlined version of Neat's Ultimatum XLS speaker. It features a two-way design with a tweeter and a 17cm bass/midrange driver. The rear port includes an acoustic filter to manage airflow and enhance the control and precision of the lower frequencies.

The J-S crossovers are built with point-to-point connections and use "premium audiophile quality components" such as polypropylene capacitors and low-loss inductors. While designed for smaller rooms, Neat claims the J-S can also comfortably fill larger spaces with the ease of a floorstanding model.

Momentum J-6 Floorstander Speakers

The Momentum J-6 floorstander employs a 2.5-way design, similar to the flagship Neat Ultimatum XL6 floorstanders. It features an AMT tweeter and midrange/bass driver in the upper section of each cabinet, with two downward-facing 17cm units handling the lowest frequencies.

Like all Neat speakers, the crossover components in the J-6 are hard-wired with point-to-point connections to ensure maximum sonic integrity. Premium components and materials are used throughout, aiming to bring flagship-level technology into a more affordable package.

Neat's previous release, the Petite Classic standmounts, impressed with their energetic and musical sound. Fans are hopeful that the Momentum Jet series will capture the same spark and spirit.

The Momentum Jet speakers will be available from September 2024. The standmount J-S will be priced at £4995, while the J-6 floorstanders will launch at £9995.
