Pure audio focus

The CD-2 is purposefully designed for audio playback only, employing a dedicated pure audio drive. Unlike multi-format drives that are based on video designs and clocks, which subsequently resample audio output (often uncontrollably) to audio clocks, the CD-2 takes a simpler and superior approach. By utilizing a pure audio drive, it ensures optimal audio quality without compromises. Many attempts have been made to optimize the clock on the drive itself, but challenges in controlling ground potentials and the introduction of noise through the engine control board persist.

Impeccable electrical design

The CD-2 benefits from Lyngdorf Audio's meticulous electrical design, featuring a highly regulated switch-mode power supply. This power supply is extensively filtered and decoupled to provide a low-noise and low-impedance supply to both the digital and analog circuitry. With separate supplies derived from four independent secondary windings on the transformer, the analog and digital circuits remain isolated, minimizing digital noise interference in the analog circuit. The grounding is optimized, ensuring the entire chassis is electrically connected, while the back panel is designed to be electrically conductive.
