Designed without compromise, the MC Vertex has been developed to extract the maximum amount of information from the record groove while preserving the natural dynamics, tonal balance, and emotional impact of every recording. Every aspect of the MC Vertex has been refined through extensive listening tests, laboratory measurements, and precision manufacturing techniques. The result is a flagship moving coil cartridge capable of delivering extraordinary transparency, detail retrieval, soundstage precision, and musical realism.
At the heart of the Ortofon MC Vertex Moving Coil Cartridge is the newly developed Vertex Diamond stylus. This proprietary line-contact profile has been engineered to maximise groove contact and tracking accuracy, allowing the cartridge to retrieve the finest musical details with exceptional precision. Featuring a 4μm scanning radius and an extended 110μm contact radius, the Vertex Diamond provides outstanding groove tracing capabilities while distributing tracking forces more effectively across the record surface.
To fully exploit the capabilities of the Vertex Diamond stylus, Ortofon has mounted it on a solid diamond cantilever. This exceptionally rigid and lightweight structure ensures efficient energy transfer from the groove to the generator system, resulting in remarkable transient response, enhanced resolution, and superior dynamic expression. Fine musical details are reproduced with exceptional clarity while maintaining excellent control during complex musical passages.
The interface between the stylus and cantilever is created using advanced laser-cutting techniques and microscopic tolerances. This highly precise manufacturing process ensures perfect alignment, exceptional consistency, and long-term reliability. The result is improved tracking performance, lower distortion levels, and enhanced retrieval of low-level musical information.
The MC Vertex features a titanium chassis produced using Ortofon's Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology. This advanced manufacturing method allows for intricate internal structures that optimise material distribution and resonance control. The exceptionally rigid titanium body provides a stable platform for the cartridge's internal components, helping to preserve signal purity and minimise unwanted vibrations.
The titanium body is finished with a durable Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating that enhances both durability and aesthetics. Combined with precision laser-engraved detailing, the DLC finish reflects the premium engineering standards that define the Ortofon MC Vertex Moving Coil Cartridge.
The MC Vertex incorporates a highly refined generator system featuring a non-magnetic armature, precision-wound high-purity silver coils, and an optimised magnetic circuit. This sophisticated design ensures accurate conversion of groove modulations into electrical signals, delivering exceptional channel separation, transparency, and musical coherence across the entire frequency range.
Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping system plays a crucial role in controlling resonance throughout the audible spectrum. Utilising a platinum disc positioned between specially formulated rubber compounds, the system provides precise damping characteristics while maintaining dynamic responsiveness.
