PS Audio PMG Signature M400 Mono Power Amplifiers

The PS Audio PMG Signature M400 Mono Power Amplifiers are available for demonstration in our Hull store by request. Designed by Darren Myers, engineered by Bob Stadtherr and hand-built in Boulder, Colorado, the M400 brings the engineering philosophy of PS Audio's flagship PMG range to a more practical reference-class monoblock power amplifier.

With 200 watts into 8 ohms and 400 watts into 4 ohms, the M400 delivers the authority and current required by a wide range of high-performance loudspeakers. Sold as a matched stereo pair, these monoblock amplifiers combine effortless power with the speed, transparency and control expected from a serious high-end system.

The M400 also incorporates 30 watts of pure Class A bias, an advanced active power supply and Darren Myers' strikingly low-feedback amplifier topology, creating an amplifier designed to preserve the timing, dynamics and subtle detail of the original recording.

Reference-Class Monoblock Power

The PS Audio PMG Signature M400 brings flagship-inspired engineering to the systems most serious audiophiles actually live with. Its 200-watt output into 8 ohms, doubling to 400 watts into 4 ohms, provides substantial power and current delivery for demanding loudspeakers while maintaining effortless control during complex musical passages and dynamic peaks.

30 Watts of Pure Class A Bias

One of the defining features of the PS Audio PMG Signature M400 Mono Power Amplifiers is their generous 30-watt Class A operating window. Class A amplification is prized for its linearity, and the M400's substantial Class A bias allows much of typical listening to take place within this highly linear operating region. The result is designed to preserve microdynamic detail, instrumental texture and the natural character of the recording.

Advanced Active Power Supply

The M400 inherits the advanced active power supply technology developed for the PMG Signature M800. Designed to deliver current rapidly when the output stage demands it, the power supply provides the foundation for the amplifier's combination of speed, control and dynamic authority. The technology is scaled specifically for the M400's 200-watt output capability without compromising its fast and consistent power delivery.

Strikingly Low-Feedback Design

Designed by Darren Myers, the M400 uses a highly linear amplifier topology requiring comparatively little overall negative feedback. Rather than relying heavily on feedback to correct distortion, the circuit is engineered to achieve high linearity intrinsically. This approach is designed to provide exceptionally transparent reproduction, allowing the character and detail of the source recording and loudspeakers to shine through.

Exceptional Speed and Wide Bandwidth

The PS Audio PMG Signature M400 is designed for exceptionally fast transient response, with bandwidth extending beyond 500 kHz and a slew rate exceeding 200 volts per microsecond. The amplifier is also capable of reproducing a 10 kHz square wave with exceptionally clean edges. This high-speed design is intended to preserve transient information, from the attack of percussion and piano notes to the subtle textures of vocals and acoustic instruments.

Designed to Disappear Into the Music

The best power amplifier is often the one you stop noticing. The PS Audio PMG Signature M400 Mono Power Amplifiers are designed to provide a transparent and powerful foundation for the rest of a high-end audio system. Their combination of low feedback, high-speed circuitry, Class A bias, wide bandwidth and advanced power delivery is intended to preserve natural timing, dynamics and low-level detail without imposing an obvious sonic character.

PMG M400 and M800 Engineering

The PS Audio PMG Signature M400 shares much of the engineering DNA of the flagship M800 while offering a lower power output designed for a broader range of high-end systems. With 200 watts into 8 ohms and 400 watts into 4 ohms, the M400 provides more than enough power for many serious listening rooms and loudspeakers, making it an attractive route to PMG Signature performance without the physical scale of the flagship.

Hand-Built in Boulder, Colorado

Hand-built in Boulder, Colorado, the PS Audio PMG Signature M400 combines sophisticated American amplifier engineering with meticulous construction. Designed by Darren Myers and engineered to perfection by Bob Stadtherr, the M400 brings together its advanced power supply, highly linear low-feedback topology and high-current output stage to create a reference-class monoblock amplifier built for long-term listening.
