The REL HT/1003 MKII features a redesigned 10-inch (250mm) CarbonGlas™ driver, combining glass fibre and carbon fibre construction to create a lightweight, rigid and responsive cone. REL has upgraded the driver with a more powerful magnet system and improved suspension, including an enlarged surround that allows greater cone excursion. These enhancements enable the HT/1003 MKII to produce significantly higher levels of bass while retaining control and reducing distortion, delivering deep, powerful and fast bass from a relatively compact 10-inch subwoofer.
The REL HT/1003 MKII Subwoofer benefits from REL's refined PerfectFilters™ analogue filter technology. These circuits are designed to optimise the subwoofer's response, extending deep bass while helping the driver operate safely and cleanly at high output levels. A higher-frequency secondary filter extends the subwoofer's response further into the upper bass region, helping explosions, impacts and other low-frequency effects sound more immediate and realistic. An integrated analogue subsonic filter also helps control potentially damaging infra-low-frequency signals below the driver's useful operating range.
The REL HT/1003 MKII has been designed to provide high-output bass without requiring the space of a larger subwoofer. Its lower, sleeker cabinet takes design inspiration from REL's higher-end models while providing substantial internal volume for its compact footprint. The cabinet combines a premium piano-black top panel with a textured composite finish, giving the HT/1003 MKII a discreet but sophisticated appearance. Its compact dimensions make it particularly well suited to smaller and medium-sized home cinema systems.
For installations where running a traditional subwoofer cable is inconvenient, the REL HT/1003 MKII is compatible with REL's optional HT-Air™ wireless system. HT-Air uses a fast 5.8GHz wireless connection to transmit the LFE signal without compression, allowing the subwoofer to be positioned away from the AV receiver or processor without long RCA cable runs across the room. This makes the HT/1003 MKII particularly flexible for modern home cinema installations.
