Design and Construction

The Xtension 9 Evolution incorporates more than 20 years of turntable design experience into a slim-line size that fits standard audio racks. The chassis is made from MDF filled with metal granulate, which provides high mass and is non-resonant. The magnetic feet, which decouple the main plinth from its base, are combined with a weighty 16 kg total turntable mass. The result is a unique combination of ‘mass loaded’ and ‘floating turntable’ design principles, which means the turntable is practically floating. This design ensures a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension.

Platter

Instead of using pure metal for the main platter, the Xtension 9 Evolution uses a perfect alloy that is damped with thermo plastic elastomers (TPE). Recycled vinyl records are also placed on top to act as a perfect mat, which is then baked before being precision balanced. The final product is a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter that runs ultra-silently.

Tonearm

The Xtension 9 Evolution includes a top-class high-end tonearm, the 9” Evolution. The tonearm is made from carbon fibre and features inverted tonearm bearings (ABEC 7 quality), which ensure smooth and stable tracking. The tonearm is also precision balanced, which ensures the highest level of accuracy during playback.

Cartridge

Additional Features

The Xtension 9 Evolution comes with a dust cover, adapter for 7“ singles, record puck, counterweights for 5-14g cartridges, power supply, allen key, spirit level, and gloves. It also features electronic speed control 33/45 rpm, which allows you to switch between speeds with ease.
