The PS Audio PMG S200 Stereo Power Amplifier brings the full engineering philosophy of the PMG Signature Series to a high-performance stereo power amplifier designed for real-world hi-fi systems. Delivering 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and doubling its output into 4 ohms, the S200 provides the power, control and transparency required to drive a wide range of high-quality loudspeakers.
The PS Audio PMG S200 is available for demonstration in our Hull store by request.
Designed by Darren Myers, engineered by Bob Stadtherr and hand-built in Boulder, Colorado, the PMG S200 combines advanced amplifier technology with the musical performance expected from PS Audio's PMG Signature Series.
The PS Audio PMG S200 Stereo Power Amplifier uses the full PMG Signature topology rather than a simplified entry-level design. Darren Myers' low-feedback amplifier architecture is combined with an advanced active power supply, providing a carefully engineered signal path designed to preserve musical detail, dynamics and immediacy. The S200 has been scaled in output for smaller and medium-sized systems, without stripping away the core engineering principles of the PMG Signature Series.
With 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the PS Audio PMG S200 offers ample power for a wide range of loudspeakers, including high-performance standmount speakers and larger floorstanding models. Its output doubles cleanly into 4 ohms, giving the amplifier the additional current capability required by more demanding loudspeaker loads. This makes the S200 a versatile choice for a dedicated two-channel hi-fi system where power, control and transparency are essential.
A major feature of the PMG S200 is its 10 watts of pure Class A bias per channel. Class A operation keeps the output devices conducting throughout the waveform, avoiding the crossover transition associated with conventional Class AB amplification. The S200's 10-watt Class A operating range covers a significant proportion of normal listening, helping deliver smoothness, low-level resolution and immediacy while retaining the greater output capability of the amplifier's overall design.
The active power supply is a fundamental part of the PS Audio PMG S200's design. Engineered to provide a stiff and stable source of power while responding rapidly to changes in demand, it helps the amplifier maintain consistent performance during demanding musical passages. The stereo architecture is carefully engineered to minimise interaction between the left and right channels, supporting excellent stereo separation and precise imaging.
The PMG S200 uses a low-feedback amplifier design that prioritises linearity through the underlying circuit architecture rather than relying on excessive corrective feedback. This approach allows the amplifier to respond naturally to rapid musical transients while maintaining consistently low distortion across the audible frequency range. The result is an open, immediate and highly resolving presentation designed to let the music take centre stage.
The PS Audio PMG S200 is engineered with performance well beyond the conventional audible frequency range. Its bandwidth extends beyond 500 kHz, while its impressive 200 V/µs slew rate allows the amplifier to respond extremely quickly to rapid changes in the musical signal. This wide-bandwidth design helps preserve transient detail, timing and dynamic contrast for a highly engaging high-fidelity listening experience.
The PS Audio PMG S200 Stereo Power Amplifier is designed by Darren Myers, engineered by Bob Stadtherr and hand-built in Boulder, Colorado. Its construction reflects the PMG Signature Series focus on circuit performance, power delivery, mechanical integrity and musical transparency. For audiophiles looking to build a high-performance system without the additional power reserves of a larger amplifier, the S200 provides an exceptional starting point for the PMG Signature Series.
