Spendor D9.2 Floorstanding Speakers

The Spendor D9.2 is the flagship of Spendor's reference D-Line range — a full-size, 3-way, four-driver floorstander built for listeners who want the outright best the brand offers, with the scale and low-frequency authority to match. Unlike the smaller D7.2, the D9.2 uses two dedicated Kevlar composite bass drivers alongside a separate midrange unit, giving it a genuinely three-way architecture and noticeably deeper, more powerful bass extension.

Like every Spendor speaker, the D9.2 is designed, engineered and hand-built at the company's own facility in Sheffield. Its LPZ 22mm tweeter and dedicated EP77 polymer midrange driver are matched through a precisely calibrated crossover — using custom-made, dual-layer, gold-plated circuit boards — at 500Hz and 4.2kHz, for an exceptionally even balance across the whole audible spectrum. True to Spendor's BBC broadcast heritage, the result is a transparent, room-filling sound with pure vocals and fast, controlled bass, rather than an artificially forward or bass-heavy presentation.

Despite its scale, the D9.2 is genuinely easy to live with: at 90dB sensitivity and a stable 8 ohm nominal impedance, it's compatible with a wide range of amplifiers, and its slim enclosure means it's easier to place in a real-world room than its size on paper might suggest. It's the natural choice for a dedicated listening room or reference-level two-channel system.
