Want the chance to own a piece of HiFi history?
We have the last Luxman Classic CL-38uSE Preamplifier and MQ-88uSE Power Amplifier. With only 100 of each model ever been made, these models were made to commemorate Luxman's 90th anniversary. Inspired by the 1970's the CL-38uSE and MQ-88uSE have a fantastic nostalgic feel.
Key components have been developed including a new oil capacitor. A pure and direct circuit configuration has been implemented into the valve amplification circuits and each individual component has been evaluated for sonic performance through repeated and extensive listening tests. During production, each CL-38uSE and MQ-88uSE undergoes a 48-hour test and burn in process before the final performance of each unit is confirmed exactly to specification, audio performance and finish.
Luxman CL-38uSE Preamplifier - £3999
Housed in a superbly finished wooden cabinet the CL-38uSE houses 3 x ECC83 and 5 x ECC82 valves in classic SRPP (Shunt Regulated Push Pull) configuration. This gives all the Luxman CL-38uSE extremely low output impedance thereby delivering strong drivability to cope with the most awkward amplifier loads. The use of four moving-coil step-up transformers in the phono stage further enables quiet and accurate reproduction.
Luxman MQ-88uSE Power Amplifier - £4499
The MQ-88uSE is based upon the critically acclaimed MQ-60 stereo power amplifier. The MQ-88uSE power amplifier utilises KT-88 valves from Slovakia JJ Electronics, configured in triode mode. Extensive research has integrated miniature JJ-made valves into the amplifier and oil condenser connections. OY-15 type output transformers, redeveloped and encased in cast aluminium housing, provide low-output impedance, whilst also protecting 2x ECC803, 2x ECC802 and 4x KT88 valves. The Luxman MQ-88uSE gives you the option of selecting either fixed or variable inputs, the latter enabling direct connection with any source component without a preamplifier. The Luxman MQ-88uSE amp delivers 2x25W into 6 ohms with pure Class A operation.

Ortofon’s MC X Series represents a new wave in high-fidelity vinyl playback. Building on the solid foundation of the Quintet range, this series introduces a more refined, high-performance line of moving coil (MC) cartridges—all designed and assembled in Denmark.
While the models share core design elements—such as a honeycomb stainless-steel body, silver-plated pure copper coils, and a refined magnet system—the key differences lie in stylus shape, cantilever material, and sonic character. These factors have a profound effect on how the cartridge interacts with the grooves and conveys the music.
Let’s break down the differences between the MC X10, X20, X30, and X40 to help you choose the model that suits your setup and listening preferences.
